Our Vision

In line with the Millennium Development Goals, the ‘TBS Vision 2015’ is to be an organization that is nationally and internationally known as the centre of excellence in Standardization and Quality Assurance activities. TBS will strive to achieve the following by the end of the year 2015:

a. have its quality management system installed and functional as per ISO 9001;
b. have its inspection unit accredited against ISO 17020;
c. have its product certification unit accredited against ISO 17065;
d. have its system certification unit accredited against ISO 17021;
e. have its laboratories accredited against ISO 17025;
f. use of state of the art technology to provide its services to its clientele;
g. initiate zonal offices at Mwanza, Mbeya and Arusha;
h. certify at least 300 SMEs to use ‘tbs’ mark;
i. operate certification scheme in the service sector and certify at least twenty firms;
j.

train and certify at least 40 companies to ISO 9000, 14000, 22000 Quality Management Systems and OHSAS 18000, an international occupational health and safety management system standard and

k.

adequately train employees and protect them and their families against illness and drudgery to make them more resourceful humans.

Our Mission

The organization’s mission is to inculcate awareness into, and promote adoption of standardization and quality assurance by the industry and commercial sectors with a view to complement national efforts to offer products of better quality and higher competitive edge on both the internal and external markets, with the overall objective of promoting the availability of good and safe products for the Tanzanian public and enhancing economic development.

Our Quality Policy

On the policy front, Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) shall endeavour to satisfy her customers by ensuring that standards and quality assurance services are delivered in the right quality and at the right time, so as to retain customers, royalty and that each employee shall be personally responsible for the final quality of his/her job.

  TBS shall ensure that quality culture is sustained and all stakeholders are involved in standardization and quality assurance activities.
