Speaking during the event, TBS Director
Mr. Charles Ekelege said the main
objective of TBS in this aspect is to
ensure safety and quality in the food
chain.
He said since its establishment, TBS had
mostly dealt with industrial
manufactures adding, “Time has come now
for TBS to ensure the safety and quality
of food. That is why we have embarked on
this programme which will be implemented
countrywide.”
During the seminar, three TBS experts in
the areas of standardization, food
safety and packaging made good and clear
presentations. Dr. Claude Mosha gave an
overview on standardization and quality
assurance, followed by Mr. David
Ndibalema who presented on the basics of
food safety and quality. Finally, Mr.
Hamisi Sudi concluded with knowledge on
quality packaging.
On their part, trainees urged TBS to
provide them with continuous training on
how to meet standards criteria since it
is crucial to their businesses and their
customers’ health.
Mr. Ali Kilimu from Tandika declared
that most of them did not have the
knowledge of standards and safety, so
the seminar will help them a lot.
The workshop was attended by
representatives from various Temeke
markets namely Stereo, Tandika, Madenge,
Mtongani, Mbagala Kizuiani, Mbagala
Rangi Tatu and Kigamboni kwa Urasa.
