Manufacturers urged to abide by
standards mark requirements
Manufacturers whose products bear the
“tbs” mark of quality have been urged to
abide by the respective standards
against which their products have been
certified.
In an event to award standards mark
licences and tested product certificates
that took place at the Tanzania Bureau
of Standards (TBS) headquarters in Dar
es Salaam on Wednesday, April 30, 2008,
TBS Director Mr. Charles Ekelege urged
manufacturers not to abuse the mark.
“By using the tbs mark on your product
you declare your adherence to the
standards mark licence regulations. We
hope you will all abide by the quality
rigorousness for which you have been
granted licences and certificates,” said
Mr. Ekelege.
During the event, 18 manufacturers were
granted with standards mark licences
while one manufacturer was granted with
the tested product certificate.
The manufacturers granted with standards
mark licences (their products in
brackets) were Sumbawanga Agricultural
and Animal Food Industry Co. Ltd.
(chilled and frozen meat), Centaza
Plastics Ltd. (Plastic carrier bags),
Uzima Beverages Co. Ltd. (Uzima drinking
water), Al-Aidarus Enterprises (Usalama
Cool drinking water), Anjari Soda
Factory Ltd. (carbonated soft drinks)
and Mama’s Fresh Produce (Honey and
Mbilimbi pickle).
Others were Lal Brothers Ltd.
(fabricated bus body), Dar Coach Body
Builders (fabricated bus body), Creative
Inter Traders (Petroleum jelly) East
Coast Oils and Fats Ltd. (Laundry soap),
Natureripe Kilimanjaro Ltd. (Cashew
kernels), Just Water Ltd. (Pure drinking
water), Serengeti Breweries Ltd.
(Serengeti and The Kick brands of beer),
Munawar Cashewnut (Cashew kernels),
Northern Highland Drinks Co. Ltd.
(Volcano drinking water), Siha Beverages
Co. Ltd. (Siha drinking water) and
Halais Pro-Chemie Industries Ltd.
(drinking water).
RSA Limited was granted a tested product
certificate for motor vehicle frontal
protection systems while Tanzania
Cigarette Company Ltd. was granted with
licence extension for various brands of
cigarettes.
